It all started on the road

In 2024, I took a 35mm Pentax camera with me as Paul McCartney’s Got Back tour travelled through Latin America. From Uruguay to Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, I photographed what was happening around the shows — and whatever happened to catch my eye along the way.
Sixty years earlier, Paul had also taken his Pentax on the road with the Beatles, photographing everything that was happening around him from the inside — pictures later brought together in 1963–64: Eyes of the Storm, a body of work I had been researching at the time. But I still had no idea where any of it was going, or what would become of my photographs. As the trip went on, my camera found itself turning more and more towards the other side of the story: the people caught up in the atmosphere surrounding him and his music.
What began as a record of that trip eventually found its way into a book. Since then, Songbird Eyes has continued to take on new forms. And you’ve just found one of them.
I hope you enjoy the show!
